My Post-Benefit Tribute to Carol Drennan
March 5, 2007
My first weekend getaway of the year – flying solo, but with a wedding ring. On the way to my hometown, but staying in a hotel like a tourist. Going to see old friends, with whom I had not kept in touch. Thus began my trip home for a benefit to honor the memory of Carol Drennan, my high school drama director who recently lost her battle against lupus.
My Spiritual Calling
November 7, 2006
Yesterday, I made a very big decision that I would probably look back for years to come. I wanted to share this with you and hopefully it will inspire and give you all the courage to follow your heart. After all, life is way too short to contemplate on “what you want to do”. Go out there and go for it!
Man’s Best Friend
August 4, 2006
In Japan, you don’t really come across many people who own pets - at least I haven’t. It’s probably due to the fact that it’s difficult to own pets in general. Many apartments do not permit them and their busy schedule doesn’t allow to take care of them. But maybe the real reason has more to do with the psyche of the people and how they view having pets? In either case, having my first dog has changed my perspective on it. I now understand why dogs are man’s best friend!
Do you Answer?
June 27, 2006
That’s the funny thing about a calling — you can say no. If you had a calling, would you answer or run screaming in the other direction. I’ve had one and now I’m walking a very scary road of my own choosing.
Relaxing the Mind
June 16, 2006
In our society today, we are so conditioned to “get somewhere” that we often get disconnected with our true self. Sometimes, the dearest things are the simple things that surround us; the insignificant things that you miss when you’re too busy or trying so hard. So in order to get reconnected, try calming your mind first. You’ll probably be surprised by its vastness and power!
Anger Management
May 23, 2006
So I guess, now is as good a time as any to mention the fact that I am planning a wedding…my own, to be precise. As event planning is part of my 9-5 gig, I gave all of my engaged friends hard times when they complained about the trials and tribulations of coordinating their “Big Day.” Now I understand that they were talking not about linens and china, but about the family politics that infiltrate every noun, verb, and adjective of wedding planning.
Passionately in Love
May 4, 2006
You know that feeling you get, when you meet your first love or soulmate? An old friend or a new friend that you connect with instantly? Or an item that you see and feel so attracted to it that your heart pounds hard and makes you go wild and crazy… ?! Well, I think we all need someone or something to be passionately in love about and this is my story!
We Are What We Eat
April 17, 2006
Eating healthy seems easy but it’s not. You have to get into the mentality of taking care of your body instead of trying to make it look one way or another. Now that I’m older, I can truly appreciate that we are what we eat, and feel the desire to eat good quality, healthy foods. And, of course, some occasional indulgence to celebrate the sweetness of life!!
